First Baptist Church of Ojai is a Christ-Centered family in the Ojai Valley that seeks to glorify our God by loving him, loving others, and making disciples of Jesus Christ from our neighbors to the nations.

Since 1909, the First Baptist Church of Ojai has been a church boldly and humbly committed to the gospel message of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. In the midst of a diverse community of spiritualities and religions, the people of FBCO are an ordinary people seeking to follow an extraordinary God, unashamedly clinging to a perfect Savior. 

Our Core Values

As a church, we want to be clear about the things that are closest to our heart. These values tell you more about who we are and how we make decisions.

  • Gospel Saturation - We long to be a church where the gospel permeates deep into each of our hearts, saturates every part of our lives, and radiates out from us into our community.
  • Bible Rooted Preaching - We long to be a church where the faithful preaching (exposition) of God’s Word sets the agenda for our gathered worship, leads us into greater depths of understanding, and produces greater heights of joy.
  • Biblically Literate People - We long to be a church that seeks to intentionally cultivate biblical literacy. A church where we seek to equip every member to rightly handle the Word of Truth.
  • Historically Informed Identity - We long to be a church that sees ourselves as members of the historic Christian faith. A church that is self-consciously connected to “the great cloud of witnesses” that came before us.
  • God Focused Worship - We long to be a church where our gathered worship is focused more on giving God the praise he’s due, than giving man the experience he desires.
  • Spirit Empowered Prayer - We long to be a church that treats prayer as essential to our mission. A church that treats prayer not as an afterthought, but as a way that we call out in dependence for the Lord to work in all things.
  • Christ Centered Community - We long to be a church where deep community is the natural byproduct of spiritual unity. A church where we grow in both intimacy and responsibility for one another.
  • Whole Person Discipleship - We long to be a church where wholistic disciples are made. A church where we teach the head to know what’s true, equip the hands to do what’s good, and stir the heart to delight in what’s beautiful.
  • Humble Servant Leadership - We long to be a church where healthy leaders cultivate healthy community. A church where leaders of all kinds are equipped, empowered, and supported in the work that the Lord has called them to do.
  • Every Member Mission - We long to be a church where every member knows his place in the mission of God. A church where everyone is equipped and empowered to fulfill the role God has given them in the kingdom.
